TinkerHood is a reading site. We collect as little as we can, and nothing is required to read anything here.

When you read

  • We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without tracking you across sites.
  • We don't use advertising trackers or sell data.
  • Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.

When you subscribe to Field Notes

We store your email address, the page you subscribed from, the date, and the country Cloudflare reports for the request, in our own database on Cloudflare. We haven’t chosen an email-sending service yet; when we do, we’ll name it on this page before your address is shared with it.

Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the sign-up comes from a person, and a rate limit stops abuse. Before the first issue, we’ll email you once to confirm; if you don’t confirm, you won’t get anything else and we’ll delete your address.

Every issue has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete your address entirely at hello@tinkerhood.com.

Guides link to documentation and projects on other sites. Their privacy practices are their own.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and say what changed in the next Field Notes issue.
